The ChemBook™ 3830 performance is based on the 1-GHz Pentium III processor. It seems like this is standard nowadays, though ChemBook has decided to take the road less costly with this system, putting a desktop CPU in the machine. This relies on a VIA mobile chipset instead of the usual Intel 440BX we’d see if this were a Mobile Pentium III. However, it should deliver better performance. Having 256MB of memory is always helpful in whatever endeavor you set out on with your laptop; if you need more, it’s expandable to 384MB.
PC3300 The ChemPC™ 3300 Portable, desktop PC/ LCD display combo.
The system features IntelÒ PentiumÒ III processors with speeds of up to 1.0GHz, and more than enough muscle to run multimedia presentations. Combined with a low-profile display, the small-footprint system will suit users in space-limited environments and those who require a transportable PC/Display for meetings and presentations. Its low power consumption makes it attractive in these times of rising energy costs.Featuring a slim 15.1-inch TFT color LCD display, the ChemPCÔ 3300 presents a viewing area comparable to that of a standard 17-inch CRT monitor, through the use of flat screen LCD technology. The unit's slim LCD display is integrated with a desktop-equivalent PC in a display and base, which contains the circuitry for the computer.
































 		 8400E The ChemBook™ 8400 providing a three-spindle design weighing 6.5 pounds. It’s light enough to easily tote on a long trip, even if you need to rush between widely separated airline gates.The ChemBook™  8400E offers a nice mixture of the two. Performance is supplied by the 1-GHz version of Intel’s Mobile Pentium III CPU, which is mounted in an ASUS motherboard based on the Intel mobile 440BX core logic chipset. This board supports up to 384MB of RAM, and Chem USA was very generous, mounting 256MB of RAM into our review system. Along with a standard 1.44MB floppy disk drive, also contained a 20GB Fujitsu ATA/66 hard disk that provided good performance and plenty of space. The third spindle on our configuration was an 8X DVD-ROM drive that can be upgraded to a CD-RW drive.
1200 The ChemBook ™ 1200 offers a modest 12.1-inch TFT active-matrix display, a three-spindle design, and enough power for most tasks.The unit was powered by a 600-MHz Intel Celeron™ processor, which resides in a motherboard based on the SiS 630 core logic chipset. This motherboard will hold up to 320MB of RAM which the addition of a 256MB module. Our reviews unit had mere 64MB. We recommend springing for another 64MB at the time of purchase. Its will bump the price up a bit, but it will worth it.Though the ChemBook™ 1200 is a three-spindle system, it is fairly light at just over six pounds, which will be appreciated by frequent travelers. The three drivers are standard 1.44MB floppy, a 24X CD-ROM and CD-RW drive are available as option to replace the standard CD-ROM drive. Also contained in the case are 56-Kbps fax modem and a 10/100BaseT Ethernet adapter.

The front bay supports DVD, CD-ROM, and CD-RW options. The side bay supports floppy disk drive, LS-120, Zip, or additional hard drive options. The UltraBase also accommodates an optional extra battery to provide mobile professionals with extended hours of remote mobile use. The UltraBase also has an SPDIF digital audio-out that connects to an external digital speaker providing high-quality sound.
8400 The ChemBook™ 8400  with socketable CPU features 56Kbps fax/modem/LAN connectivity option for corporate and SOHO users.
The ChemBook 8400 features 128KB/256KB of synchronous pipelined-burst on-die L2 Cache RAM, a SODIMM socket and 64MB of PC-100 SDRAM onboard, upgradable to 320MB. An 8MB SRAM Video RAM and a 128-bit 2D-engine support AGP 2X Mode Video functions. This SoundBlaster Pro-compatible unit with PCI audio includes built-in speakers, microphone, and ports for additional microphone, line-in and headphone-out connections. The 14.1-inch TFT color LCD display supports scaling functions for multi-resolution applications and XGA resolutions up to 1024 x 768 x 64K.
