Suspend-to-Disk Partition

  1. Insert the DOS bootable diskette with phdisk utility into Drive A.
  2. Type phdisk /create 300000.
  3. The phdisk utility will create a partition of 300MB automatically, which will allow you to expand your system memory to the maximum of 288MB and still use the Suspend to Disk feature.

 

USB Driver

Windows 95

  1. With the Win95 CD in the drive, go to Start Menu / Run d:\others\usb\usbsupp.exe (OSR 2.1) or d:\other\updates\usb\usbsupp.exe (OSR 2.5).
  2. Click on Yes to bypass the Licensing Agreement screen.
  3. After Scandisk finished, the system will be rebooted.

 

Core Logic

Windows 95

Note: It is recommended that you install USB Drivers before installing Core Logic Drivers.

  1. Insert the Utility CD.
  2. Run Setup.EXE under \patch on the CD-ROM, and Click on Next.
  3. View the License Agreement and select File/Exit to close Notepad, and click Yes if you agree to continue.
  4. Click Next to update files, and click OK to reboot the computer.
  5. After rebooting, Windows will detect several new hardware items. You will be prompted to restart Windows several times. Answer No to each Restart prompt, and restart only after the Windows desktop and Taskbar appears.
  6. If asked for the location of UHCD.SYS, enter C:\windows\system

 

Video Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Insert the Utility CD.
  2. Run D:\vga\ati\win9x\disk1\setup.
  3. Click on OK to start installation.
  4. Enter d:\VGA\ATI\Win9x\Disk 2 as the path for Disk 2.
  5. After files are copied, go to Monitor / Change / Show All Devices, and select Laptop Display Panel 1024 x 768. Click on OK and Close.
  6. You will be warned about changing refresh rates. Then, click on Close to return to Settings, and change the Desktop Area to 1024 x 768. Click on Apply and Yes to Restart the computer.

Windows 98

  1. Insert the Utility CD.
  2. Run D:\vga\ati\win9x\disk1\setup.
  3. Click on OK to start installation.
  4. Enter d:\VGA\ATI\Win9x\Disk 2 as the path for Disk 2.
  5. After files are copied, go to Monitor / Change / Show All Devices, and select Laptop Display Panel 1024 x 768. Click on OK and Close.
  6. You will be warned about changing refresh rates. Then, click on Close to return to Settings, and change the Screen Area to 1024 x 768. Click on Apply and Yes to Restart the computer.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Start Control Panel, and select Display / Settings / Display Type / Change / Have Disk.
  2. Click on Browse to locate D:\VGA\ATI\NT\NT40 on the utility CD, and click Open.
  3. You should see a list of adapters. Select ATI 3D Rage LT Pro AGP 2X.
  4. Click on Yes to Proceed, and select Close/Close, and Yes to Restart Windows.
  5. After Windows has restarted, the display properties will appear. However, you will not be able to change the resolution to 1024x768 unless you install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or above. If you do, then change the Screen Area to 1024 x 768.

 

Audio Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Run D:\Audio\ess_m2e\win9x\Setup. Select to Upgrade Drivers.
  2. After files are copied, restart Windows.
  3. Windows will find ESS device manager. Select Finish. Enter d:\audio\ess_m2e\win9x as the path.
  4. The following devices will be found: Maestro Wave/Wavetable Synthesis Devices, Maestro Multi-Device Enumerator, Maestro DOS Games/FM devices, Maestro MPU-401 devices, and Gameport Joystick. Then, select Close to return to device manager.

Windows 98

  1. Go to Start / Settings / Control Panel / System / Device Manager
  2. Look for PCI Multimedia Audio Devices under Other Devices. Click on it and select Properties / Drivers / Update Drivers.
  3. A wizard will start. Tell Windows to search for a better driver. Select Other location, and browse to D:\Audio\ess_m2e\win9x.
  4. Windows will find ESS device manager. Select Finish. Enter the same path as above.
  5. The following devices will be found: Maestro Wave/Wavetable Synthesis Devices, Maestro Multi-Device Enumerator, Maestro DOS Games/FM devices, Maestro MPU-401 devices, and Gameport Joystick. Then, select Close to return to device manager.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Start Control Panel / Multimedia / Devices / Audio Devices
  2. Click Add, and highlight Unlisted or updated Driver, and click OK.
  3. Use Browse to find the directory D:\audio\ess_m2e\nt40 on the CD, and click OK.
  4. ESS Maestro PCI driver 4.00.20 should be listed.
  5. Click OK to confirm driver installation.
  6. Click Restart Now to reboot the system.

 

PCMCIA Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Remove all PC Cards physically from the socket.
  2. Go to Control Panel / System / Device Managers / Other Devices, and Remove all PCI Cardbus Bridges.
  3. Go to Start / Program Files / MS-DOS Prompt, and copy all files with INF extension under D:\PCMCIA\TI1220\Win95\REV118 to the C:\Windows\system directory, and copy PCMCIA.INF from the same source directory to C:\Windows\INF.
  4. Exit the MS DOS Prompt to go back to Device Manager, and select Refresh.
  5. Windows will find 2 TI-1220 Cardbus Bridges. When asked if you want to keep the original files, answer Yes.
  6. Close Device Manager to return to Control Panel, and open the PCMCIA icon.
  7. PCMCIA Wizard will start. Select Next/Next/Finish, and shutdown Windows.

Modem Drivers

Windows 95

  1. In Control Panel, go to System / Device Manager, and look under Other Devices for LT Win Modem.
  2. Click on LT Win Modem, and select Properties / Drivers / Update Drivers.
  3. Tell Windows to search for a new driver, then click on Other Locations, and enter D:\Modem\Win9x as the path.
  4. Windows will find Wave Device for Voice Modem. Follow the same step as for the LT Win modem and supply the same path for the driver.
  5. Windows will find Voice Modem Serial Wave Device. Click on Close.

Windows 98

  1. In Control Panel, go to System / Device Manager, and Remove the Unknown device from Other Devices. Then Refresh.
  2. Wizard will start. Search for a driver, and enter D:\modem\win9x as the path. Windows will find LT Win Modem.
  3. Windows will find Wave Device for Voice Modem. Follow the same step as for the LT Win modem and supply the same path for the driver.
  4. Windows will find Voice Modem Serial Wave Device. Click on Close.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. In the BIOS Setup, go to Advanced / I/O Device Configuration, and set IR Port to Disable.
  2. Go to Exit and select Exit Saving Changes.
  3. Enter Windows NT, and go to Control Panel
  4. Go to Ports, and make sure that there is only COM 1. If there are any additional COM ports, delete them and restart Windows NT.
  5. Run D:\Modem\NT\Setup.exe.
  6. Installation wizard will start. Select Install New Modem Driver and Components.
  7. After setup is finished, LT Win Modem should appear in Control Panel / Modem, and it should use COM 3 IRQ 3.

 

Trackpad Drivers

Windows 95/98

  1. Go to Control Panel / Mouse / General / Change, and select Have Disk.
  2. Enter D:\Touchpad\Alps\Win9x as the path. Alps Glidepoint should be listed. Select OK, Close, and restart Windows.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Go to Control Panel / Mouse / General / Change / Have Disk
  2. Enter d:\touchpad\alps\nt as the path, and select Alps Glidepoint as the path.
  3. Click on Yes to confirm device install, and select Close and Restart.

 

Power Profiler

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Create C:\Power.
  2. Copy D:\NT40_APM\NT40\23002\PP23002.exe to C:\power
  3. Run PP23002.exe from the C:\power directory to extract the files.
  4. Locate Setup.exe in the C:\power directory, and run Setup.
  5. Installation Wizard will appear. Follow the instructions provided by the Wizard and reboot the system when finished.

 

Infrared Driver

Windows 95

  1. Insert the Utility CD.
  2. From the \irda directory, run "Setup", then press "Yes" to proceed with Infrared Driver Installation.
  3. Click on "Next" to confirm "Add Infrared Device Wizard".
  4. Windows 95 will ask you to select the manufacturer of the infrared device, click on "Have Disk"
  5. Click on "Browse" to locate the Infrared driver from the Driver & Utility CD-ROM disc, the path is "D:\irda\nsc", then click on "OK".
  6. Click on "OK" to confirm "install from Disk"
  7. Select "OEM Laptop Fast Infrared Port", then click on "OK".
  8. Specify your Windows 95 CD-ROM disc path, then click on "OK".
  9. Select "Change Settings", then click on "Next".
  10. Select the configuration of COM, interrupt level, and DMA Channel based on your Generic IR Serial Port COM 2 settings. The recommended setting is COM2, Interrupt Level 3, DMA Channel 3.
  11. Select "IBM or TEMIC" in the Dongle Type, then press "Next".
  12. Select "Use Default Ports" for simulated serial and parallel ports, then click on "Next".
  13. Click on "Finish", then click on "OK" to restart your computer.
  14. After Windows 95 restarted, double-click on My Computer / Control Panel / Network.
  15. Select OEM Laptop Fast Infrared Port / Properties / Advanced. Make sure you have the values on following items: DMA Channel 3, Dongle Type IBM or TEMIC, Interrupt Level 3, UARTIOBaseAddress COM2.
  16. Highlight "OEM Laptop Fast Infrared Port".
  17. Click on "Add", select "Protocol", then click on "Add".
  18. Click on "Have Disk".
  19. Click on "Browse", select folder "\irda", file name "fastir.inf", then click on "OK".
  20. Click on "OK" to confirm "Install from Disk".
  21. Click on "OK" to confirm the fast infrared protocol installation, then click on "OK".
  22. Click on "Identification" tab, and input your computer name and workgroup name, then press "OK".
  23. Specify your Windows 95 CD-ROM disc path, then click on "OK".
  24. Click on "Yes" to reboot your Notebook PC.

Windows 98

  1. Run D:\IrDA\Win95\Setup for Microsoft Infrared Support version 3.0
  2. You will be asked to replace numerous files. Tell Windows to keep the original files for each prompt.
  3. Add Infrared Device Wizard will start. Select Next, and choose Use Default Ports. Then reboot the system.
  4. Go to Control Panel / Network / IrDA v.3.0 Fast Infrared Port / Advanced
  5. Change the Values to IBM 31T1100.

 

DVD/MPEG2

Windows 95/98

  1. Go to Control Panel / System / Device Manager, and look for PCI Multimedia Video Device under Other Devices.
  2. Select the device, and click on Properties / Driver / Update Drivers. Select Other location, and enter D:\MPEG2\ALI\DRV\Win9x as the path.
  3. Windows will find Acer Labs M3309 Accelerator. Reboot the system.
  4. Run D:\MPEG2\ALI\AP\Setup.exe to install the DVD Player. Follow the instructions provided by the installation wizard.
