Here are links to instructions for setting up Windows operating systems: Windows 95 OSR 2.x and Windows 98.

Suspend-to-Disk Partition

  1. Insert the DOS bootable diskette with phdisk utility into Drive A.
  2. Type phdisk /create 170000.
  3. The phdisk utility will create a partition of 170MB automatically, which will allow you to expand your system memory to the maximum of 160MB and still use the Suspend to Disk feature.

 

USB Driver

Windows 95

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. With the Win95 CD in the drive, go to Start Menu / Run d:\others\usb\usbsupp.exe (OSR 2.1) or d:\other\updates\usb\usbsupp.exe (OSR 2.5).
  3. Click on Yes to bypass the Licensing Agreement screen.
  4. After Scandisk finished, the system will be rebooted.

 

Core Logic

Windows 95

Note: It is recommended that you install USB Drivers before installing Core Logic Drivers.

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Insert the Utility CD.
  3. Run Setup.EXE under \patch on the CD-ROM, and Click on Next.
  4. View the License Agreement and select File/Exit to close Notepad, and click Yes if you agree to continue.
  5. Click Next to update files, and click OK to reboot the computer.
  6. After rebooting, Windows will detect several new hardware items. You will be prompted to restart Windows several times. Answer No to each Restart prompt, and restart only after the Windows desktop and Taskbar appears.
  7. If asked for the location of UHCD.SYS, enter C:\windows\system

 

Video Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Insert the Utility CD.
  3. Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
  4. Start the "Display" applet program.
  5. Select the "Settings" page, push the "Advanced Properties" button.
  6. Push the "Change" button in the "Adapter Type" area.
  7. Push the "Have Disk" button and press "OK".
  8. Specify the path to the new driver and press the key.
  9. The "Select Device" dialog box will appear. Select the adapter that corresponds to the one you installed in your machine and click OK.
  10. Windows 95 will copy the display drivers to the proper directories on your system.
  11. Continue choosing Close until asked to restart your machine from the "Systems Settings Change" dialog box.
  12. After the system has restarted, you can go back into the Display applet and select alternate screen resolutions and color depths.

Windows 98

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Insert the Utility CD.
  3. Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
  4. Start the "Display" applet program.
  5. Select the "Settings" page, push the "Advanced Properties" button.
  6. Push the "Change" button in the "Adapter Type" area.
  7. Push the "Have Disk" button and press "OK".
  8. Specify the path to the new driver and press the key.
  9. The "Select Device" dialog box will appear. Select the adapter that corresponds to the one you installed in your machine and click OK.
  10. Windows 98 will copy the display drivers to the proper directories on your system.
  11. Continue choosing Close until asked to restart your machine from the "Systems Settings Change" dialog box.
  12. After the system has restarted, you can go back into the Display applet and select alternate screen resolutions and color depths.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "OTHER" and Service Pack 3 and above has been installed.
  2. Insert the Utility CD.
  3. Double click [My Computer], double click [Control Panel], double click [Display].
  4. Select [Settings], then click [Display Type].
  5. Click [Change], then click [Have Disk].
  6. Click [Browse] to locate the VGA driver from the support CD, the path is: \Vga\Nt40, then click [Open].
  7. Click [OK] to confirm Install From Disk.
  8. Click [OK] to confirm Change Display.
  9. Click [Yes] to confirm Third-party Drivers.
  10. Click [OK] to exit the display property.
  11. Click [Close] twice, then click [Yes] to reboot.

 

Audio Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Double-click on "My Computer", double-click on "Control Panel", and double-click on "System".
  3. Click on "Device Manager" Tab.
  4. Remove "YAMAHA OPL3-SAx Audio System" under "Other Devices", then click on "OK".
  5. Remove "Gameport Joystick" under "Sound, Video and Game controllers", then click on "OK".
  6. Click on "Refresh" to re-detect the sound controller.
  7. Click on "Next" when Windows 95 recognizes the "YAMAHA OPL3-SAx Audio System".
  8. Click on "Other Locations", then click on "Browse" to locate the audio driver from the Driver & Utility CD-ROM disc. The path is "D:\AUDIO\WIN95", then click on "OK".
  9. Click on "OK", then click on "Finish".
  10. Click on "OK", then click on "Browse", specify the path "D:\AUDIO\WIN95" again, then press "OK".
  11. Click on "OK" twice.
  12. Click on "Browse", specify your Windows 95 CD-ROM disc path, then click on "OK".
  13. Click on "OK".

Windows 98

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Double-click on "My Computer", double-click on "Control Panel", and double-click on "System".
  3. Click on "Device Manager" Tab.
  4. Remove "Gameport Joystick" under "Sound, Video and Game controllers", then click on "OK".
  5. Click on "YAMAHA OPL3-SAx WDM Driver" under "Sound, Video and Game controllers", then click on "Properties".
  6. Select "Driver" tab, then click on "Updated Driver".
  7. Click on "Next" twice
  8. Put a checkmark on "Specify a location", and specify the path "D:\AUDIO\WIN98", then click on "Next" twice.
  9. Click on "Finish".

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "OTHER" and Service Pack 3 and above has been installed.
  2. Double click [My Computer], double click [Control Panel], double click [Multimedia].".
  3. Select [Devices] Tab, click [Audio Devices] , then click [Add].".
  4. Highlight [Unlisted or Updated Driver], then click [OK].".
  5. Click [Browse] to specify the audio driver path \Audio\Winnt\Multi1, then click [OK].".
  6. Click [OK] to confirm driver installation.
  7. Highlight your language version, then click [OK].
  8. Click [OK] to accept the default Hardware Configuration settings.
  9. Click [Restart Now] to reboot your computer.

 

PCMCIA Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Remove all PC Cards physically from the socket.
  3. Go to Control Panel / System / Device Managers / Other Devices, and Remove all PCI Cardbus Bridges.
  4. Insert the Utility CD.
  5. Go to the PCMCIA/Win95 folder.
  6. Click on "Setup" and after the system ask for reboot, then reboot your system.

 

Modem Drivers

Windows 95

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Go to Control Panel / Systems / Device Manager.
  3. Remove all devices marked with exclamation marks or red Xs.
  4. Click on Refresh.
  5. When Windows finds new hardware and asks for a driver, use Browse to point to the location of the driver.
  6. You should see HSP Modem appearing in Device Manager.

Windows 98

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Go to Control Panel / Systems / Device Manager.
  3. Remove all devices marked with exclamation marks or red Xs.
  4. Click on Refresh.
  5. When Windows finds new hardware and asks for a driver, use Browse to point to the location of the driver.
  6. You should see HSP Modem appearing in Device Manager.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Disable IR and set install OS to "OTHER" in CMOS setting.
  2. Run setup.exe in the NT modem driver folder.
  3. Choose "HSP 56K PCI Modem" and click "Next".
  4. After setup, click "Cancel" so the system will not reboot. [Instead of "OK" to reboot].
  5. Put in your NT4 CD, and install Dial-up Networking, and TCP/IP protocol.
  6. Select "HSP 56K PCI modem" when RAS want you to choose the modem.
  7. Then reboot and you can use your modem now.

 

Trackpad Drivers

Windows 95/98

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Go to Control Panel / Mouse / General / Change, and select Have Disk.
  3. Enter D:\Touchpad\Alps\Win9x as the path. Alps Glidepoint should be listed. Select OK, Close, and restart Windows.

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "OTHER".
  2. Go to Control Panel / Mouse / General / Change / Have Disk
  3. Enter d:\touchpad\alps\nt as the path, and select Alps Glidepoint as the path.
  4. Click on Yes to confirm device install, and select Close and Restart.

 

Infrared Driver

Windows 95

Step 1. Install the IrDA 3.0 for Windows 95:
  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. Insert the Utility CD.
  3. From the \fir\win95 directory, run "Setup", then press "Yes" to proceed with Infrared Driver Installation.
  4. Click on "Install Fast IR", then press "Yes" to proceed Infrared driver installation.
  5. Click on "Next" to confirm "Add Infrared Device Wizard".
  6. Windows 95 will ask you to select the manufacturer of the infrared device, click on "Have Disk".
  7. Click on "Browse" to locate the Infrared driver from the L7200/7300 Driver & Utility CD-ROM disc, the path is "D:\FIR\WIN95", then click on "OK".
  8. Click on "OK" to confirm "Install From Disk".
  9. Select "Winbond Electronics Corp." on Manufacturers field, then select "Winbond W83877A FIR Controller (PIO)" on Infrared Devices field, then click on "OK".
  10. Press "OK", specify your Windows 95 CD-ROM disc path, then click on "OK".
  11. Select "Change Settings", then click on "Next".
  12. Select "IBM" on Infrared Transceiver field, then click on "Next".
  13. Select "1000 uc" on Turn Around Time field, then click on "Next".
  14. Select "Use default ports (recommended)" on Add Infrard Device Wizard, then click on "Next".
  15. Click on "Finish" to complete the infrared device installation.
  16. Click on "OK" to reboot the computer to finalize the installation.

Step 2. Install Fast IR stack and additional software to support networking:

  1. After system restarts, press any key to skip the ndis2sup.vxd file missing warming.
  2. Click on "Yes" to continue Network installation.
  3. Double-click on "My Computer", double-click on "Control Panel", double-click on "Network".
  4. Select "Winbond W83877A FIR Controller (PIO)", click on "Add", then highlight "Protocol".
  5. Click on "Add", then select "Have Disk".
  6. Specify the path of the Infrared driver of the L7200/7300 Driver & Utility CD-ROM disc at "D:\FIR\WIN95", then click on "OK".
  7. Click on "OK" on Select Network Protocol Window.
  8. Click on "Yes" to restart your computer.
  9. Reboot your computer again to reorganize your resource settings.
  10. Click on "OK", then specify your Windows 95 CD-ROM disc path, then click on "OK".
  11. Click on "Yes" to keep an existing file ndis.vxd.
  12. Double-click on "My Computer", double-click on "Control Panel", double-click on "Network".
  13. Double-click on "Winbond Infrared Controller (PIO)", click on "Properties", then select "Advanced" tab.
  14. Change the Value to be "IBM", then click on "OK".
  15. Click on "Yes" to keep an existing file ndis.vxd.
  16. Click on "Yes" to restart your computer.

Windows 98

  1. Make sure to check your CMOS OS setting to "WIN95/WIN98"
  2. After Windows 98 restarted, double-click on "My Computer", double-click on "Control Panel", double-click on "System".
  3. Select "Network Adapters", then click on "Winbond Infrared Controller".
  4. Click on "Driver" tab, then click on "Update Driver".
  5. Click on "Next", select "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want."
  6. Click on "Browse", then specify the Infrared driver from your L7200/7300 Driver & Utility CD-ROM disc at "D:\FIR\WIN98".
  7. Keep Clicking-on "OK" three times.
  8. Click on "Next", specify your Windows 98 CD-ROM disc path, then click on "OK"
  9. Click on "Yes" to keep an existing file wbfirpio.sys.
  10. Click on "Finish" to complete installation.
  11. Click on "Yes" to reboot your computer.
  12. After system reboots, click-on "OK", then specify the file path of ircomm.vxd at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.
  13. Click on "OK", then specify the file path of ircomm.vxd at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.
  14. Double-click on "My Computer", double-click on "Control Panel", double-click on "Network".
  15. Double-click on "Winbond Infrared Controller (PIO)", click on "Advanced" tab.
  16. Change the Value to be "IBM", then click on "OK" twice.
  17. Click on "Yes" to restart your computer.
