Windows 95 OSR 2.x and Windows
98.

Suspend-to-Disk Partition
- Boot up from a bootable DOS disk.
- Insert the disk labeled CD-ROM Installation Driver & Suspend Utility
in the floppy drive.
- From A:\, type 0vmakfil -pXX, where XX is at least the amount of system
memory installed.
- After partition is created, reboot the system.
Video Driver
Windows 95
Please see FAQ for more information on the
SVGA display.
- Go into "Control Panel" / "Display" /
"Settings" / "Advanced Properties".
- In the screen for Adapter, click on Change. Insert the Multimedia Series
CD into the drive, and select Have Disk. Use Browse to point to
d:\driver\video\95drv-e. Select Trident 9660/9680/938X, Linear Accelerator
for PCI (v.3.02.01)
- Click on the Monitor tab, and click on Change. Select Laptop Display
Panel 800x600. Click on
- Close to return to the Settings screen.
- Move the Desktop Area slider right to 800x600, and check the box for
Show settings icon on task bar. Then, click on Apply. Restart Windows when
prompted.
Windows NT 4.0
- Go to Control Panel / Settings.
- Click on Change Adapter Settings, and Click on Change.
- From the list of Adapters, select Trident as the manufacturer, and
Trident Video Accelerator as the model.
- Insert Windows NT CD if necessary, and point to D:\drvlib\video\trident.
- Move the Desktop Area slider to 800 x 600, and select either 256 or
65536 colors.
- Click on Test to test the new settings. After 5 seconds, you will be
returned to the settings screen. Click on Apply or OK for the new settings
to take effect.
Windows 3.xx
- Run d:\driver\video\31drv-e\tinstall in Windows.
- Select Express Setup, and Continue to confirm installation paths.
- After Setup finishes, run Screen Control program from Program Manager,
and Choose 800x600 for Resolution and 256 for Color. Choose OK to restart
Windows.`
- To install DOS VGA Drivers, run d:\driver\video\tvgautil\readme.
- Select 1 to install to the C drive.
- After the installation finishes copying the files, Press Esc to return
to DOS Prompt.
Audio Driver
Windows 95
- Go into "Control Panel" / "System" / "Device
Manager" / "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers"
- Choose ESS ES1688 AudioDrive and click on Properties.
- Choose Drivers and click on Update Driver. Choose Yes to allow Windows
to search for the driver.
- Windows will report that it cannot find the driver. Click on Other
Locations/Browse. Choose the directory d:\driver\audio\95drv.
- Windows will find ESS 1788 Plug and Play AudioDrive. Click on Finished.
- Windows will look for the directory again. Use Browse to point to the
same directory as before.
- Restart Windows when prompter. After Windows has restarted, run
d:\driver\audio\95rack\setup.
- Select Next twice, and Setup will start copying files. Wait until the
copying is finished, and click on No to skip reading the README file, and
OK to finish installation.
Windows NT 4.0
- From Control Panel, Choose Multimedia/Devices.
- Click on the Add button, and choose Unlisted or Updated Drivers.
- For the directory, type in d:\driver\audio\nt40drv\16_1788.
- Choose ES1688/ES1788 Audio Drive v.2.00.03, and click on OK.
- After files are copied, you should have audio capabilities.
Windows 3.xx
- Run d:\driver\audio\31drv\setup in Windows.
- Choose Driver Installation, and choose OK to accept the default
configuration. Choose Restart Windows.
- Run d:\driver\audio\31rack\setup.
- Choose Continue to confirm installation directory, and Complete
Installation to start.
PCMCIA Driver
Windows 95
- Go into "Control Panel" / "System" / "Device
Manager" / "Other Devices"
- Choose one of the PCI PCMCIA Bridge, and click on Properties / Driver /
Update Driver
- Answer Yes to allow Windows 95 to search for the driver. It will
eventually say that it cannot find the updated driver. Choose Other
Locations.
- Use Browse to look for the directory d:\driver\pcmcia\w95omega, and
Click on OK.
- The Wizard will find a OMEGA Micro PCI to PCMCIA Bridge. Insert the
Windows 95 CD-ROM and click on Finish. Then click on Close to return to
Device Manager.
- Repeat for the other PCI PCMCIA Bridge.
Windows NT 4.0
- Go to Control Panel / Ports / Add, and enter the following information :
COM Port number 3, Base I/O Port Address 03E8, and Interrupt Request IRQ
5. Insert the Modem card and restart Windows NT.
- After Windows has restarted, go to Control Panel / PCMCIA. You will see
the Modem card identified as the card in slot 0 or 1. Select it, and click
on Properties / Resources.
- Record the resources assigned by Windows NT, and go back to Control
Panel / Ports to make adjustments accordingly if necessary. Reboot if any
changes were made.
- Go to Control Panel / Modem, and let Windows NT detect the modem
automatically. It should find the modem on COM 3.
- After it finds the modem, click on Next / Finish. You may use the modem
now.
Windows 3.xx
- Run d:\driver\cardwiz\english\setup from within Windows.
- For the number of PCMCIA slots, choose 3 slots.
- Select Custom Installation, and Select OK to confirm the Cardwizard
path.
- Allow Setup to modify CONFIG.SYS and SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI.
- If only network cards and modems are used for the PCMCIA, then deselect
the boxes labeled
- ATA Cards, SRAM Cards, and FTL Flash Cards. Then, choose OK.
- Reboot after Setup finishes copying files.
Configuring Modem
- Insert a modem card into a PCMCIA slot.
- From the C:\Cardwiz directory, run CARDINFO /V.
- Record the COM port and IRQ information.
- From the C:\Windows directory, run EDIT SYSTEM.INI.
- Look for a statement COMxIRQ statement, where x is the COM port. Change
the value to the IRQ recorded from Cardinfo. Recommended : COM3, IRQ9.
- Make sure that no other COM ports have the same IRQ setting.
- Save the file and start Windows.
CD-ROM Driver
Windows 3.xx
- Run a:\teac\setup in Windows.
- Choose the Default Settings when installing, and choose Return to
Windows when done.
- Insert Windows for Workgroup Disk #6 into the floppy drive.
- Add the [MCI] CD Audio in Windows Control Panel/Drivers.
- Insert the Multimedia Series CD-ROM
- Reboot to activate the CD-ROM Drive.
Trackpad Driver
Windows 3.x
- Run d:\driver\touchpad\tprev. If it shows the message "No Synaptics
TouchPad found!", then copy AMOUSE.COM from A:\ALPS to C:\, and add
the following line to C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- If it does not show "No Synaptics TouchPad found!", then run
INST31.EXE from the A:\Synaptic directory. Choose to install DOS and
Windows drivers.
- Restart the Computer when finished.
VPM Driver (ZV Port)
Windows 95
- Go to Control Panel/Add New Hardware. Do not allow Windows to search for
the new hardware.
- Choose Sound, Video, and Game Controllers as the hardware type, then
click on Have Disk. Either use Browse or type in the path d:\driver\video\vpm\win95.
- You will see a Select Device screen with 4 different Trident Devices.
Select the Capture item,
- and click on OK. Then Click on Finish. Some files will be copied from
the CD-ROM. Do not restart Windows yet.
- Repeat for all four devices listed. After all four devices have been
installed, restart Windows.
Windows 3.xx
- Run d:\driver\video\vpm\win31\setup from Windows.
- Click on install to start copying files, and choose not to replace any
files.
- After file copying is done, restart Windows.
IDE Driver
Windows 95
- You must uninstall IDE DOS driver and IDE Windows Driver before install
IDE Windows 95 driver.
- Copy A:\win95\siside.inf to C:\win95\inf\, where "win95" is
your Windows 95 directory. Note, "inf" is a hidden directory.
- Copy A:\win95\siside.mpd to C:\win95\system\iosubsys\
- Double click the "My Computer" icon on the Desktop.
- Double click the "Control Panel" icon in "My
Computer".
- Double click the "System" icon in "Control Panel".
- Select "Device Manager" option in "System
Properties".
- Double click "Hard Disk Controllers".
- Select the "Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller".
- Click on the "Remove" option.
- Select "OK" when prompted to "Confirm Device
Removal".
- Repeat 9) to 11) but select the "Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk
Controller" if it exists.
- Select "Yes" when prompted to restart Windows 95 in
"System Setting Change" dialog box.
- When rebooting, Windows 95 will find new hardware "Primary SiS IDE
Controller" then a "System Settings Change" dialog box
appears asking for restarting computer.
NOTICE!! Please choose "No" to make Windows 95 keep
finding "Secondary SiS IDE Controller".
- Windows 95 will display a "System Settings Change" window
again. Please choose "Yes" to restart your computer.
Windows 3.xx
Since the IDE driver for DOS is incompatible with certain programs, it is
recommended the you do NOT install the IDE driver.
